about
Reb Fountain and Tali have teamed up for a remix of Reb’s 2020 tune, ‘Hawks & Doves’, from her 2020 self-titled Flying Nun debut.
‘Hawks & Doves’ is the opening track on Reb’s acclaimed album; the gateway into her self-titled record that captivated listeners the world over. ‘Hawks & Doves (Tali Remix)’ accentuates Reb’s songwriting prowess by adding lush harmonies to repeating themes and incorporating swirling undercurrents of mood and texture that reimagine ‘Hawks & Doves’ amidst the winds of change. Brooding beats, melodic bass lines and oscillating synths ebb and flow like echoes. The result is a mesmerising collaboration between two of Aotearoa’s finest female musicians. Distinctive artists in their own right, Tali and Reb Fountain are a combined force to be reckoned with.
Tali is an award-winning singer, songwriter, teacher, mentor, inspirational speaker, and author. She is sought after for her experience as one of the most prolific Female MC/Vocalists to emerge from the International Electronic Dance music scene - particularly for her work and ground-breaking achievements within Drum and Bass.
Tali has worked with some of the biggest names in Drum and Bass and toured the world several times over as both an MC and with a live band. She has released seven studio albums, numerous singles both as a solo artist and collaboratively, has won three Drum and Bass awards, A New Zealand Music Award for her latest LP 'Love & Migration', had a UK top 40 hit, and this summer, given Aotearoa's fortunate status - was undoubtedly one of the busiest Drum and Bass MCs in the world, playing at over 10 festivals, numerous clubs gigs and University O week shows.
In May 2020, Reb Fountain released her self-titled album through New Zealand label Flying Nun to much critical acclaim. Reb Fountain was shortlisted for the Silver Scroll Award for her song ‘Don’t You Know Who I Am’, and the album Reb Fountain was nominated for five New Zealand Music Awards; Album of the Year, Best Alternative, Best Solo Artist, Best Album Artwork and Best Engineer. Throughout 2020, Reb and her all-star band astounded audiences around the country on her sold out album release tour, and now they’ve joined Crowded House on their 13 date ‘To The Island Tour’ this month.
Both Reb Fountain and Tali are performing at the upcoming Splore Festival, on the weekend of 26th-28th of March, 2021.
“Reb Fountain is to be counted among our finest songwriters whose imagery is both personal and universal, and her command of a melody and a song transcends genre.” - Graham Reid, Elsewhere.co.nz

The fave song title has to be a pun on the Canadian national anthem and yes I'm late to this party :) Liked the light touch to the extra strings and horns. Just enough to add colour and swing. Jason Kemp

ERMERGERD. The vocoder sounds in Guru...I'm obsessed. I'm already picking out the underwear I'm gonna throw on stage next time you tour the UK Ladi6.
You have been warned. Tristan Braybrooke
